Postcards Coating

Aqueous Coating

You will get a Dull/Satin Aqueous coating that protects the product and enables us to expedite your cutting and shipping. Most mail houses can inkjet on this coating, but it is not recommended for postal meters and is more difficult to write on than “no coating” products.

Your Dull coating is a very pleasing finish and considered a more tasteful look than “Hi Gloss’ Aqueous. For those wishing to have the Hi Gloss look, please choose “UV coating” when ordering. UV coating is even glossier than Hi Gloss Aqueous.

UV Coating

UV coating is also referred to as “Liquid Laminate”. This is the highest possible gloss. Because of the amount of plastic content in this coating it is not suitable for inkjet addressing. Most postcards are printed “UV1” which means that the front of the postcard will have the UV coating and be very glossy, while the back of your postcard will have either “no coating” or our standard Dull Aqueous Coating.

No Coating (C1S Stock)

No Coating/C1S Stock means that the paper we use to print your order will have a UV coating on the front and No Coating on the back. The back side of C1S paper is similar to offset paper in that you may easily inkjet, write or meter the products. Keep in mind that since there is no coating on the backside of C1S stock that your colors will not be as vibrant as if you had printed on a C2S (Coated 2 Sides) paper.

If you have any question as to how color changes on C1S Vs. C2S we recommend viewing a Pantone (PMS) color book. C1S/ No coating is usually only ordered if the job requires mailing or your client needs to be able to write on the back of the cards.
